There's a shift in the world ... can't you feel it? A consciousness; an awareness; a higher level of thought addressing what needs to be done on a personal; national and global basis to lead us into a brighter place. Deepak Chopra teaches that worldwide change must begin with personal transformation and recently attended a conference in Barcelona, Spain, as part of his leadership role for Alliance For A New Humanity. It was at this event that the 'Vow of Non-Violence' initiative arose. If you'd like to learn more or already know that you'd like to take the vow of non-violence 'in your thoughts, in your speech, and in your actions' please click on the above 'I took the vow' button.
Oh, just in case you miss this comment posted by another recent vow-taker ... I've pasted it below ... I think I have a new mantra!
I vow ...
To not place heat in words, where I may place light
To not stumble into loudness, where there may be stillness
To not seek to be heard first, where I may be heard clearest
To not fashion into sharpness, what I may fashion into gentleness
To not measure what I get, where I may measure what I become
To not look for revenge, where I may seek justice
To not fall into argument, where I may clarify by debate
To not think in terms of punishment, where I may think in terms of correction
To not attack, where I may defend
To bring together, where it is simpler to take away
To stop short, where it is easiest to dig in the knife
To search for the excuse for peace where there is ample excuse for violence
To seek forgiveness where it is easier to cast blame
To bite my tongue when the retort on the tip of it is priceless
To never raise a hand or a voice on a child and to never allow it around me
To let go what I can easily make an issue of in the interest of peace
To actively speak up to stop acts of violence towards those around me
To speak softly
To harm no one directly or indirectly in my personal pursuits.
